Small RFID Tags

Metalcraft’s  1 7/8“ x ⅝”” Universal Micro RFID Tag is considered a small rfid tag in the industry and is definitely one of the smallest tag on the market for tagging a wide array of items.

Now it certainly isn’t in the same realm as the powder/dust passive tag market and it certainly will not be injected into the nucleus of a pearl anytime soon either, but for normal tagging applications that need a small rfid tag to fit in a certain space, the Universal Micro can be “a giant” in getting things accomplished.

How Small RFID Tags Are Useful

Small RFID tags like the Universal Micro are great for identifying your assets and keeping your inventory current, but it is not so visible or bulky that it distracts or hampers the use of the asset in any way.

If you are merchandizing or identifying extremely small items then the print-period size powder tag should be considered. A jeweler choosing loose jewels might find such identification useful. Or, a biologist tracking a bee’s navigation pattern might have uses for the ultra-tiny RFID tag on the back of the bee, but, for most uses, the Universal Micro RFID tag will serve admirably because of the many features it offers over its tinier counterpart even if it weren’t for a cost factor alone.

The Micro RFID tag is large enough to have excellent read range which is crucial to many RFID applications.  Also the label boasts enough surface area for digital 4-color printing including text, barcodes or logos so individuals can easily see the information and branding on the tag.

Additional Benefits To Tiny RFID Tags

Aside from it being a visual identification tool, even more benefits for asset management exist. For tracking systems in transition, barcodes can be printed on a Metalcraft Micro RFID Tag making it functional in two platform schemes. Without any changes to the environment on which the tag sits, the read range of these tags is 9 feet on metal and 4-5 ft, on plastic, wood and glass. With a 128 bit user memory and 128 bit EPC memory, the Metalcraft Micro RFID tag can certainly store most identity and data needs for easy retrieval of data.

Even though the Metalcraft Micro RFID tag is large enough to be used as a visually prominent asset tag, its ability to be inconspicuous cannot be overlooked. The Mico’s slim .06” thick profile enables it to be placed in smaller nooks and cavities of an item to be concealed. To withstand the abrasion of everyday usage of items, the Mico’s digital print is encapsulated in durable polyester and secured to the items with permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive.

For applications beyond standard asset management, the Micro Tag can be used in a variety of different ways including: identifying and tracking returnable containers, tools at the work site, or even items on a retail shelf.

Ironically, Metalcraft’s Universal Micro RFID Tag can be one of the smallest RFID tags in the market but still be a “giant” in terms of meeting the needs and demands of your project.
